Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather John Tucker

This past weekend we took a road trip to West Virginia to visit the grave of the first Tucker in America. John Tucker was born in 1776 in Ireland or England and came to America in time to fight in the War of 1812, settling in then-Grant County, Virginia (today West Virginia). The Tucker cemetary is located near Antioch, WV, on Tucker Ridge Road, about 3 hours from Washington D.C. The cemetary has 2 families, the Tuckers and the Ferebees. The Tucker section has roughly 16 graves, all with illegible names. The cemetary sits adjacent to the 300-acre farm that John Tucker and his wife Betsy Tucker lived on from 1838 until 1858.
